To run the Bandwidth manager DEMO: 1) Build a kernel with bw0 device. See device.sample, files.i386 In order to do thie correctly you need to: - run /usr/hdlc/dev/update script - add the bw0 device to your kernel config - comment out the net/if_ethersubr.c in /usr/src/sys/conf/files - add the lines in /dev/hdlc/dev/files.i386 to /usr/src/sys/i386/conf/files.i386 - do a 'make clean' in your build directory - rebuild your kernel the normal way. 2) cd to /usr/hdlc/utils 3) add your bandwidth limits. For example: bwaddr ed0 56000 134.17.14.1 bwaddr ed0 128000 217.14.11.0 255.255.255.0 4) start the demo as follows: bwaddr ed0 start demo see www.etinc.com/etutils.htm for syntax on bwaddr utility The demo will limit traffic on the machine for 1 hour. At the end of the demo, a message will be displayed (or sent to your messages file, depending on syslogd) telling you that the demo has completed. To view statistics on limits set on a specific interface: bwaddr ed0 show To change the statistical gathering period (default=30 minutes): bwaddr setperiod 60 The above would set the period to 60 seconds If you decide that you want to buy the product, contact ET by calling (516) 271-4525 or send E-mail to sales@etinc.com. Someone will contact you regarding how you can get an activation key. There will be no need to reconfigure or get new software once you get your key, so you can keep you demo setup and start using it right away. ENJOY!
